Wax Polishes

Toluene Free Wax Polish

Toluene free wax polishes are today the most popular type of wax because of their ease of application, low odour and quick drying shine properties. For the best results by hand, apply wax evenly to the surface with a brush, take away any excess with a cloth and then buff to a shine. Wax can also be applied with a cloth, if preferred.

The beautiful patination that wax easily creates on a piece of pine furniture cannot be recreated with spray lacquers or varnishes. Wax polishes offer little protection to furniture but owners of waxed furniture now accept that if you want furniture to look that good, then you have to look after your furniture.

Spray Wax Polishes

When choosing a cold wax spray system it is important to remember that Bolotte/Mylands is the first company to manufacture both the cold wax spray system and the wax.

Once you have sprayed wax you will never want to apply wax with a brush again. No more uneven smears of wax wiped off and wasted, just the right amount of wax applied quickly and evenly, regardless of whether you normally apply one coat or three.

Traditional Toluene Wax Polishes

Toluene based waxes were once market leaders however due to strong odours they have generally been superseded by the Toluene Free range. However, these waxes offer excellent performance.

Conservation of real Antique Furniture can be achieved in its simplest form with Mylands Wax Polishes especially our Traditional Waxes for Restoration. The refinishing of mahogany and oak furniture manufactured in the 20th century can be attempted by the keen amateur with a little knowledge and using products available mostly from our Re-sale range.

18th, 19th and 20th century pine can be improved with application of more wax. But dark Antique Furniture from 18th and 19th century should only be restored by or with the help of an experienced Polisher or Restorer. Bad restoration work will almost certainly de-value quality antique furniture.
